How Do I Turn OnOff Dark Mode on My iPhone and iPad

How Do I Turn On/Off Dark Mode on My iPhone and iPad

Dark themes are found in apps, browsers, and operating systems to combat the harmful effects of staring at a bright screen in a dark room on your eyes. Rather than turning on dark mode app by app on your iPhone or iPad, you can activate system-wide dark mode.

Computers and smartphones have had white backgrounds since the beginning. In open places or sunlight, light backgrounds are nice, but they can be blinding in a dark environment. You may get eye strain and blurry vision if you stare at a bright screen for hours. We use smartphones for hours every day, so keeping the Dark Mode on may help us sleep better.

Activate Dark Mode on iPhone and iPad via Settings

On iOS 13 and iPad OS 13, the Dark Mode can be enabled in a number of different ways. Device settings allow us to switch between light and dark appearances.

  • iPhones and iPads have a Settings menu that can be accessed by opening the menu
  • Changing the brightness of the display can be accomplished by tapping it
  • Permanently enabling Dark Mode is now possible by selecting Dark
  • In the meantime, you can toggle Automatically to toggle between the light and dark appearances on your iPhone or iPad based on your time preferences
  • The next step is to tap Options
  • Sunset to Sunrise enables the Dark Mode automatically at sunset and disables it at sunrise
  • A custom time range can be set for automatic transition between Light and Dark appearances with the Custom Schedule option

Enable Dark Mode on iOS 13 – Control Center

This method speeds up switching between Light and Dark Mode, and vice versa.

Every time you open your iPhone or iPad’s Control Center, you’ll see how it looks like.

  1. If the iPhone X or newer screen has an upper-right corner, make sure it’s swung down.
  2. On iPhone 8 and subsequent models, swiping up involves swiping upward from the bottom of the screen.
  3. The Brightness slider can be accessed in the Control Center by tapping and holding it.
  4. Dark and light modes can be selected on the Brightness control screen.

You have to change your system settings to toggle Dark Mode independently in Safari on macOS and iOS.

  • Open System Preferences: Click the Apple menu at the top left corner of your screen and choose “System Preferences”
  • General: You can find it by clicking “General”

For iOS and iPad:

  1. Open Settings: Navigate to your device’s settings.
  2. Display & Brightness: Click “Display & Brightness”.
  3. Appearance: Choose between light and dark modes manually or let your device automatically switch between them at different times of day.
