TikTok Is Bringing Mini Games Into Its App | New Pilot-Testing Mini-Games

As TikTok faces greater competition from YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram. All of which have added short-video sections to their apps, the company has started testing mini games to draw more users.

In some markets, including the United States, the company has recently added an option for creators to add one of the nine games to a video by selecting Mini-Game when tapping the ‘Add Link‘ button.

Gaming Pilot Launches On TikTok

The TikTok platform is always evolving, and we regularly test new features and integrations to make it more useful to our community. Currently, TikTok is investigating the possibility of integrating HTML5 games with third-party developers and studios to bring these games to the platform.

Mini Games Added In TikTok App

TikTok is currently testing nine mini games, one of which is from Aim Lab; the makers of a popular app named Mr. Aim Lab have created a popular app called Mr Nightmare of Aim Labs. The project is also supported by other developers such as Voodoo, Nitro Games, FRVR, and Lotum, as well as TikTok’s other partners.

According to Reuters, TikTok planned to expand into gaming to boost advertising revenue and retain users on the app for longer. As part of the pilot program, TikTok has added several new Mini Games that were unavailable at the time.

When you are creating your post, you have the option to add a game. You can add a link to a video before you post it. You can link your video to a minigame by choosing MiniGame at the bottom of the list. Using TikTok, we saw the following eight games:

  • Basketball FRVR
  • Tap The Difference
  • Peek a Who
  • Pride Run
  • Influencer Run
  • Space Destroyer
  • Mr. Aim Lab’s Nightmare
  • Kitten Force FRVR

Mobile games are relatively simplistic, requiring only taps and swipes to play. Minigames like these won’t compete with Fortnite or Pokemon Go, and the minigame on TikTok isn’t intended to compete with any significant titles. The feature has been practical if it keeps you on the application for an additional minute or two.

Moreover, the mini games are free from ads and in-app purchases, and the project is just in its infancy. As of right now, TikTok is investigating how creators create content for the app and how users interact with it.

Currently, TikTok focuses on the gaming sector, and its parent company ByteDance recently acquired game developer Moonton Technology. A charity game called Garden of Good is also available through TikTok’s partnership with Zynga, where users can trigger donations to Feeding America through the game.

How To Play Games In TikTok App

According to TikTok, the gaming pilot has been confirmed:

Continually testing new features and integrations to enhance our platform brings value to our community. The TikTok platform will host HTML5 games in collaboration with third-party studios and developers.

The tweet below contains a link where you can test out one of the games on your phone. Once you have installed TikTok on your device, the link will take you to the video.

You will find a link directly above the account name, saying, “Play Mr. Aim Lab’s Nightmare on TikTok.” The game will appear within the TikTok app when you click the link. You can begin the game by tapping through the prompts and hitting Start.

As of right now, TikTok is still testing this program. The company provided no terms of any deal with the developers of these games, and TikTok Live is developing separate games from these minigames.
